The image of the powerpoint below is a basic high-level overview of marketing channels and activities.  I recently created it for a product I am working on to bring to market.  It has shown to be useful for other products I am working on, so I sanitized it for general use.  The copy below would be further customized for a specific product and industry.

Each block can be moved around to a particular phase of marketing rollout/growth, with phases representing a timeline.  With each phase, there are a host of back-end operational activities and processes to put in place before the phase begins.

I believe that once a product has past market testing and hits phase 2, its important to initiate advanced development of the next product, represented by the “Develop Follow-On Product” block.  It can take time to develop follow-on products and by the time the current product is in phase 3, you will want the follow-on product to be hitting phase 1.
