Startup idea: the choice in this article does not have to be conventional or organic. Bamboo and hemp products use 1/3 and 1/2 less water, respectively, produce more per acre of land, and require far fewer to no pesticides. We went this route in designing a tug toy in my dog products biz, rather than using petroleum-based polypropylene or cotton. I am looking at domestically-soourced wool for future products produced from free range ranches. Range land animals actually improve our grasslands and pull more carbon out of the atmosphere. Textile startups can look at bamboo, hemp and domestic wool to innovate.
